Services

Since 1988 we at Health for Life Chiropractic Center have been assisting patients by providing a drug-free approach to conditions like back pain, neck pain, headaches and other pain conditions of the joints and muscles. In addition to natural pain relief, it is our belief that through a healthy lifestyle which includes good nutrition and regular exercise, our patients can enjoy life to its fullest and avoid many preventable health problems.

Spinal Evaluation

spinal evaluation

In order to determine the cause of your pain, an evaluation is performed by the doctor to diagnose your condition. By evaluating spinal range-of-motion and using specific orthopedic and chiropractic examination procedures, the doctor can arrive at a proper diagnosis and formulate an appropriate treatment plan to correct your condition.

Radiology/X-Ray

We have X-Ray services available on premises so that we can make images of your problem area if necessary. Of particular importance is the fact that our spinal x-rays are taken in weight-bearing position. Films taken in this way are much more revealing for our purposes because the doctor is able to see your spine under a more stressed posture (most patients have less pain when lying down).

Spinal Adjustments

Spinal AdjustmentsThe core training of the chiropractor is the art of administering the chiropractic adjustment. Adjustments are made to the spine and other joints of the body when the chiropractor determines that the joint has lost some or all of its normal range of motion. A precise force is introduced into the affected spinal segment or other joint with the intent of restoring proper function and alignment. Once a spinal segment or other joint has been adjusted, some or all of its function is restored and the patient generally experiences relief in the form of less discomfort and improved mobility. Skillfully done, the adjustment is a pain-free procedure.

Conditions that respond well to spinal adjustments include back pain, neck pain, headaches, migraines and sciatica.

Extremity Adjustments

Extremity Adjustments

While some shoulder, arm, hip and leg problems are related to the spine, many are not. Many pain or numbness conditions involving the extremities must be addressed directly. Dr. Hattaway is very familiar with extremity adjusting procedures and has a high degree of success in alleviating pain in the shoulders, arms, wrists, hips, legs and feet. These procedures have helped our patients overcome Headaches and migraines related to Temporal Mandibular Joint dysfunction (TMJ), Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and many other conditions without drugs and surgery.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the name of the fibrous tissue underneath the skin that covers the muscles. It is a very pain sensitive tissue and can easily become inflamed (Myofascitis). Myofascial pain can mimic nerve pain, achiness and pressure pain. In our clinic we use a variety of methods to address myofacial pain including deep tissue massage, neuromuscular therapy, and dyn2amic stretching methods.

KinesioTaping

kinesiotaping

Also referred to as Fascial Movement Taping (FMT).Using tape, we can better engage and coordinate movements of the spine and extremities to increase efficiency, manage pain and reduce fatigue. KinesioTaping can also be used to reduce swelling, accelerate blood flow and help coordinate movement.

Used by top athletes and trainers in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and throughout professional and amature sports worldwide, this form of therapy can help you manage injuries and improve function and performance.

Pain Neutralization Technique

Pain Neutralization Technique

This method of pain relief accomplishes the same goal as myofascial release the difference is that PNT works much faster and is very comfortable for the patient. The technique developed by Dr. Stephen Kaufman, uses the natural reflexes of the muscular system to immediately turn-off painful trigger points, joint and bone pain.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal Decompression Therapy

This treatment consists of applying precise traction forces to specific spinal levels for the purpose of releasing pressure on the intervertebral disc. It is used predominantly for bulging or herniated discs, generally confirmed by MRI, in the lower back and neck. When a disc is bulging it often causes pressure on the delicate spinal nerve roots. When nerve roots are compressed they can cause both localized and referred pain. Referred pain can be in the form of sciatica (pain down the back of the leg) or shoulder, arm and hand pain.

Infrared Light Therapy

Infrared Light Therapy

This therapy is well-researched and shown to be effective in reduction of inflammation and wound healing. In our office, we use Light therapy for relief of common inflammatory conditions like tendonitis, bursitis and myofascitis. The treatment is painless and patients usually only feel a mild warming over the area being treated.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound Therapy

This device sends a high-frequency sound wave deep into the muscles causing them to vibrate very rapidly. This rapid vibration delivers a “micro-massage” at the cellular level, which increases circulation. Increased circulation in tight and sore muscles helps them to relax, quieting spasm and tension.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

This machine has wire leads with patches that are stuck on and around areas of muscle and joint pain. When the machine is turned up, you will experience a light tingle at first. As the intensity is increased, the muscles can begin to twitch rapidly; this is normal and expected. The current has the effect of reducing muscular tension and diminishing pain.

Dry Hydrotherapy

Dry Hydrotherapy

This is like a waterbed with Jacuzzi jets that you lie on. Warm water is sprayed against the back and neck with the rotating jets stimulating circulation and relaxing the spinal muscles.

Wellness/lifestyle Counseling

Wellness/lifestyle Counseling

The good news is that once the first step is taken, each successive step is easier; the key is to START!

Intersegmental Traction

Intersegmental Traction

This table has mechanical rollers that move up and down the spine delivering a massage and gentle traction between the spinal segments. The pressure is adjustable for your preference and comfort. This therapy helps to restore mobility to stiff joints of the back and neck.
